| We all know the situation: First you have to shovel the car out of the snow heap, and then you have to scrape the windows and defrost the door locks before you even get to get into the car- to a veritable cold shock. Because you don’t have the engine running idling belches forth harmful waste-gases while you are shovelling and scraping? - One thing is how uncosy, annoying and frustrating all this is, second is that an ice cold driver also has worse premises to react right and quickly enough in a critical situation. The body uses all available energy to compensate for all this freezing, and in this phase the risk of accidents is multiplexed, - says Director Leif Agnar Ellevset in “Safe Traffic”.
- That a good driver with bad cleaned windows also risks a penalty, is one thing- much worse is that reduced visibility also contributes to the increase in the accident risk.
- The easiest and cheapest way to avoid this situation is to install an engine heater and an interior heater. Then you are secured clean windows, warm interior from the first start and as an extra bonus you also save the environment for unnecessary large emissions of harmful waste-gases, - says the Director in”Safe Traffic”.
- An electrical car pre-heating system is a small investment, whether you choose only an engine heater or a complete package with interior heater, battery charger and an automatic control unit,- says Marketing Director Per Rune Iversen in DEFA, the Norwegian market leader in car pre-heating systems in Northern Europe.
- Using an automatic control unit you are also assured that the use of current is reduced to a lowest possible level. The heater is activated only as long as the sensors tell it is necessary in accordance to the temperature outside. The longest activating time is approx. 3 hours – and then it has to be really cold, states Iversen.
