The cold period in December and the beginning of January lead to a record increase in the demand for car heating systems. At DEFA, the Norwegian market leader in the area, the production was running both day and night at the factory in Nesbyen, and extra labour had to be hired to keep up, says Marketing Director Helge Berget at DEFA.

- The sale of car heating systems has this winter increased a lot in relation to the previous and abnormal mild winters. A traditional Norwegian winter with a lot of snow and frost has given us an useful reminder of the use of starting a preheated engine – and to always have top charged battery, - says Berget, who can report that the delivery situation is back to normal. - Increased use of engine heaters is positive especially because it contributes to reduction of harmful waste-gases from cars and with that gives a cleaner air. In addition to what is mentioned above, DEFAs car heating system, DEFA WarmUp also contributes to increased safety and comfort, at the same time as you save fuel. The engine heater itself, which is placed in the engine block, is the heart in DEFAs car heating system. Attached to an ordinary socket from the patented Mini Plug socket on the car, it effectively and quickly heats the coolant. The result is an engine that starts easily and runs optimistically from the first minute. By this you avoid the large, harmful cold start spill and you also avoid the extra high start consumption with a cold engine. The assortment of engine heaters cover all the current car brands and models. The interior is heated by using the interior heater, which is available in several versions from 500W, and up to 2000W. All are equipped with fuses, which avoids over heating and therefor fire risk. Advanced technology secures high effect by low temperatures and gradual reduction in the consumption as the temperature in the environment increases. The chauffeur is therefor able to get into a warm interior, with clean windows and free sight in all directions. This again reduces the need for use of power demand from heated rear window and heated seat. DEFA Warm Up may be runned by an advanced electronic control unit, with small, outer dimensions and elegant design easily adjustable to all kinds of interior. Simple and economic use is secured by using the automatic function, where the starting time is controlled by the outside temperature. Then you are always secured correct preheating of the car, using a minimum of current. Naturally it is also possible to pre adjust self-chosen starting times, or start the system directly. The control unit also shows the outside temperature, battery voltage/charging voltage and has a built-in ice warner, which reminds us of the possibility of slippery roads by temperatures around freezing point. During cold periods the power supply in modern cars are very vulnerable because of the large amount of power users – heated back window and side mirrors, heated seats, air condition, window lifts, central lock, radio/CD and more. Using the advanced electronic battery charger integrated in the car heating system you are always secured a top charged battery. The charger is light, demands little space and is secured against over charging.
